Store goals as effective-dated records rather than overwriting them, so a prior quarter still reports against the target that was live at the time. Overwriting a goal silently restates history and destroys the ability to answer whether a plan was ever met.
Goals getting reset is one of the standard ways executive reporting drifts from reality. Version the target, show the change on the chart, and keep the original in the record. The same applies to quota, segment definitions and stage mappings.
