# How do I track traffic and pipeline coming from ChatGPT and other AI answer engines?

Add AI and AEO to the attribution taxonomy as first-class sources — generative engines, AI assistants and answer-engine referrals get their own values, not a dump into Direct or Organic. Most attribution standards were written pre-2024 and are missing the category entirely.

Answer-engine traffic is real pipeline and it arrives with a thin or absent referrer, so it silently inflates Direct unless the taxonomy names it. Add the sources at Blueprint, put them in the restricted pick list, and instrument the landing pages so the referral string is captured even when the channel can't be inferred.
